“To Acknowledge The Duty That Accompanies Every Right”
Established in 1925, the Midland Y’s Mens Club is the oldest Y’s Men’s club in Ontario. On an annual basis, over $100,000 of funding is raised through Y’s Men efforts, enabling donations to the YMCA as the major beneficiary, as well as other community initiatives like the Huronia Museum, Camp Kitchikewana, the Midland Music Festival and YMCA improvements, just to name a few.
We’re found everywhere in the community, doing all we can to help to strengthen the bonds that tie us all together.
The museum features an exhibit gallery featuring tens of thousands of historic artifacts ranging from photographs, native archaeology, the marine heritage of Georgian Bay and art by members of the Group of Seven, and others. It also showcases a replica of a “pre-contact” Huron/Ouendat village, including a lookout tower, wigwam and a full sized longhouse.
They have also recently begun an outreach program to bring education programs directly to classrooms of kids between grades three and six, offering a wide variety of topics, programs and fun activities like learning stories, making dreamcatchers and dancing styles, bringing engaging and fun historical lessons to the younger people in the area.
YMCA Camp Kitchikewana’s mission is to provide each member of the camp community with the opportunity to be active, to learn and to grow in a safe, healthy and natural environment. Through a range of skills, outdoor activities and interactions with others, campers are encouraged to challenge themselves while building self-confidence, having fun, and creating lasting friendships. In the spirit of the camp’s strong tradition, they are committed to challenging individuals to be the best that they can ever be.
Current Ongoing Events
We’re proud to support several local festivals, including Ontario’s BEST Butter Tart Festival, boasting up to 200,000 butter tarts across 200 vendors with 65,000 guests in 2018.
The Midland Y’s Men’s Club is also a supporter of The Bryson McQuirter Memorial annual golf tournament, happening in June at Brooklea Golf & Country Club.
Proudly supporting The Midland Music Festival, The Midland Y’s Men’s Club aims to provide students with the opportunity and the motivation to develop their music skills, while listening and learning from others. This is a rare opportunity for students to receive truly constructive and objective criticism of their work, while also performing for the people of the public.
If you are energetic, driven, enthusiastic and love being a part of your community and are willing to accept new challenges, we would love to have you join.
Come and be a part of our storied heritage, with a rich history and proud achievements, The Midland Y’s Men’s Club would love to hear from you.
